Traveling around the country
Will this create a Sense of Comfort, or Just the Opposite?
Travelling around Croatia can be done in several ways:
- By plane - this is the recommended way to travel around the country in order to save time. There are domestic flights of the national airline from Zagreb to coastal cities or to the big cities like Split, Rijeka, Zadar and Pula.
- By train - Although ticket prices are cheaper compared to those in other European countries, travelling by train is not recommended as the railway network in Croatia is not built as well as the bus network. To most destinations it is better to choose the bus. The most used route by train is Zagreb - Split.
- By bus - this is the cheapest way to travel around Croatia. As already mentioned, the bus lines are well developed in the country and connect all the cities, especially in tourist areas. The downside here is the expense of time and convenience as the roads are not first-class around the country and the highways are partial. To get from one city to another may take hours. For example from Zagreb to Dubrovnik it takes 12 hours. However, If you opt for a bus ride the time, spent on the bus, will not be wasted, because you will enjoy the picturesque views that will open in front of your eyes during the trip.
- By car - after air travel, this is the fastest and most convenient way to travel. Stations operate from 7 am to 7 - 8 pm in winter and to 10 pm in the summer. There are non-stop stations in the big cities. The association of Croatian motorists provides 24 hour roadside assistance, as well as information about the roads and traffic conditions. You can contact them on 987.
- By boat
