The Methods of Payment and the Prices in Croatia
The official currency of Croatia is the Croatian Kuna (HRK).
1 HRK = 0,131 EUR or
1 EUR = 7,630 HRK
1 HRK = 0,143 USD or
1 USD = 7,006 HRK
1 HRK = 0,094 GBP or
1 GBP = 10,586 HRK
The euro is accepted everywhere in Croatia, even in restaurants at night, but always ask for the rate at which they exchange before you pay. It is the same with the US dollar and the British pound. There are vending machines to exchange foreign currency in the big cities, which operate
24 hours a day. Exchange offices are hardly to find and if you need to exchange better use a bank office.
The prices in Croatia are accessible and you will not pay more than you have already got used to paying when you eat out. The restaurants prices are close to those in the restaurants in Western countries, and some of them are much lower in comparison with the prices in the tourist areas in Western Europe. Lunch or dinner for two can cost you €16 to €40 in an inexpensive restaurant, soda/cola cost about €2 and coffee will cost you
€1. Be prepared to pay more than those amounts during the peak season.
What you might not like is that you constantly have to calculate the value of anything you want to buy, as prices are quoted in local currency.
